Winter Hot Cocktails

These hot cocktails are sure to turn up the heat and chase the cold away this Winter. Serve these drinks at your next holiday party or save them for the first snow, curled up by a cozy fire.

Toast yourself up from the inside out!

 

1. MULLED WINE

Serves 6

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup apple cider

1 bottle fruity red wine (we recommend a Grenache or California Zinfandel)

1 cup water

1 orange, juiced + zested

1 lemon, juiced + zested

3 whole peppercorns

4 cloves

¼ cup raw agave

1 cinnamon stick, garnish

METHOD:

In a cheesecloth combine the peppercorns, cloves and orange and lemon zests and tie closed.

In a saucepan, combine water, apple cider, red wine, raw agave, lemon and orange juice and cheesecloth bag and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.

NOTES + SERVING TIPS:

Remove the cheesecloth and serve in mugs.

Garnish with a cinnamon stick and leftover orange and lemon zests.

 

2. IRISH COFFEE

Serves 1

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup freshly brewed hot coffee

1 Tbsp brown sugar

1 ½ oz whiskey

1 oz vegan half & half (½ almond milk + ½ cashew milk)

ground cinnamon, garnish

METHOD:

In a mug, combine the hot coffee and brown sugar, stir until dissolved.

Add the whiskey and half & half and mix well.

NOTES + SERVING TIPS:

Top with homemade coconut whipped cream, sprinkle with cinnamon and serve.

 

3. “YOU’RE GETTING WARMER”

Serves 1

INGREDIENTS:

2 tsp pure maple syrup

1 whole star anise

3 cloves

1 sachet Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea

1 cup hot water

1 tsp pure vanilla extract

2 oz dark rum

Orange slice

METHOD:

Add pure maple syrup, star anise, cloves, and spice tea to the bottom of a mug. Pour in the hot water and let tea steep for 4–5 minutes, then remove sachet.

Add pure vanilla extract and dark rum. Squeeze the orange slice and drop it into the mug, then stir to combine.

NOTES + SERVING TIPS:

If serving to a large group, make the tea in one large pot, and add the vanilla, rum, and orange slice to each mug individually.

Serve hot.
