DIY to store bought...

This is the ultimate ‘treat yo’self post’.

Winter can be truly rough on your skin, especially on your face. To save you (and your wallet) a trip to the spa, we’ve compiled our favorite DIY remedies to keep your face glowing and feeling fresh, plus a few of our favorite products you can buy.

Stay tuned for more DIY remedies for Winter hair care + unwelcome cold and flu symptoms.

Pucker up! Don’t let the harsh winter frost chap your lips (or your a$$). From balms to scrubs, know how to care for your kissers this winter.

1. DIY: Coconut Oil Lip Scrub

Before you do anything, EXFOLIATE! It’s important to get rid of the dead skin before you rehydrate (aka detox before you retox).

Mix a teaspoon of sea salt and a teaspoon of coconut oil in a bowl and apply to lips.

Gently scrub lips in a circular motion for about a minute or until they feel smooth. Rinse with water and pat dry.

Use this scrub once a week, and keep coconut oil handy all Winter long to nip dry chapped lips in the bud!

2. Pressed for time? Try puchasing Fresh’s Sugar Lip Polish

Fresh’s cosmetic line has an awesome lip scrub that will save your smackers this Winter season.

Made with brown sugar crystals and shea butter to rejuvenate your lips and condition them to better hold in moisture. This baby is safe to use every day to ensure your lips are smooth and ready for that daring holiday lip.

Harsh cold winds will suck the moisture right out of your face this Winter. That’s why face masks are your new best friends this season. They will clean your blemishes, remove dead skin, tighten pores, all while moisturizing.

1. DIY: Avocado + Oatmeal Mask

Avocado masks are great for dry, cracked, peeling skin, and best part is…. they’re so simple to make PLUS this mask will help to restore any damaged skin!

Cook 1/2 cup oatmeal according to package and combine with 1/2 mashed avocado, ½ teaspoon of coconut oil and apply paste to a clean face.

Leave on for about 10 to 15 minutes, rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.

2. DIY: Coffee + Cocoa Mask

The caffeine in coffee helps to reduce puffiness, and cocoa has been shown to slow aging. Both ingredients are high in antioxidants and help to repair any damaged skin.

Pro tip: This make seriously shows results immediately! Get ready for glowing skin as smooth as a baby’s bottom.

Combine in a bowl 2 tablespoons of ground coffee, 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon of raw agave, and 3 tablespoons of our Homemade Sour Cream or vegan yogurt.

Apply paste to clean face and neck in a circular motion. Keep for 10 to 15 minutes, rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.

3. DIY: Charcoal Mask*

This trendy ingredient has been rocking the cosmetic world, which you probably already knew from by CHLOE.’s On the Road Juice, a delicious take on charcoal lemonade. Charcoal deep cleans pores to cleanse and detoxify your face, keeping it fresh all winter long.

Combine 1 opened and emptied activated charcoal capsule, 1 tablespoon of clear aloe vera gel, and 3 drops of tea tree oil.

Apply mask to clean face for up to 30 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.

*Keep in mind if you have large pores, they may be slightly tinted for a day or two after using the mask, but will fade with time.
