But as the Summer goes on, it gets hotter and hotter. Sometimes you need something cool to refresh and recharge at the end of a long hot picnic. We love a good slushy, but these frozen banana bites are the perfect small treats to throw in a bag and go.
Make a batch ahead of time and tote with you in a small cooler on your picnic or just treat yourself to a few as a healthy weeknight snack.
Set up your work station.
Place the sliced bananas in a bowl on the left of your work station.
Place the bowl with the melted chocolate in the middle of your work station.
Set up 3 bowls with your various garnishes on the right of the melted chocolate.
Prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment.
Have several forks or spoons ready.
Check your melted chocolate. If it is slightly thick, add vegan margarine and stir until completely combined.
When the chocolate and workstation is ready, begin dipping your bananas into the chocolate one at a time, using a fork to fully cover or halfway cover each slice.
Use the fork to remove the banana slice and place it in one of the toppings – sprinkles, nuts, or coconut.
Use a spoon or your fingers to fully cover the banana with the topping.
Remove the banana slice using a clean spoon or fork and place on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
Repeat the process until all of the slices are dipped and covered.
Place the entire baking sheet in the freezer and freeze until solid.
Once solid, place the bites into a storage bag or freezer-proof container.
