Turmeric, known for is anti-inflammatory properties, has been around the block for thousands of years and in short…is basically a superhero in the spice world.

It does a TON of amazing things for your body and your health – it is particularly excellent for arthritis, skin health, digestion, and the immune system (to name a few).

Since it has been so freakin’ cold recently, we can’t get enough of different kinds of teas and warm beverages so we’re here because we want to mix things up. Warm Spiced Golden Milk (recipe from by CHLOE. Chef Contributor, Lauren Kretzer) is the perfect way to do this.

It is simple to make and the ingredients help with inflammation, bloating + weight loss (2017 resolutions, we’re looking at you!).

So it’s basically the most perfect nightcap…ever.

½ cup coconut milk

½ cup unsweetened almond or soy milk

2 tsp pure maple syrup

½ tsp turmeric

1 star anise pod

1 cinnamon stick

4-5 cardamom pods

¼ tsp ground ginger

1/8 tsp (or very small pinch) freshly cracked pepper (for increased absorption of turmeric’s health benefits)

Place all ingredients in a small pot and stir to combine.

Bring to a low boil. Immediately reduce heat to low and let simmer for 7-8 minutes, or until flavors have combined.

Strain through a fine mesh sieve into a mug and serve immediately.

While we always recommend trying Warm Spiced Golden Milk warm, you can also enjoy it iced, blended up in a smoothie, or even as the base for a bowl of overnight oats.
