Your Super Bowl Snack Guide

We’ll just come out and say it: we love the Super Bowl because it justifies snacking ourselves into a food coma. While wearing sweatpants. On a couch. While drinking. #nojudgements Hey, that’s what a Detox Kale Salad is for the next day, right?

If you’re hosting the big game this weekend, it’s important to stock your kitchen with all of the essentials in advance so that you and your guests will have endless amounts of vegan deliciousness to enjoy all night long.  Without further ado, here’s our list of Super Bowl Snack Essentials

Spreadable Vegan Cheese: You’re going to need something to schmear on crackers and crostini, so grab your favorite spreadable vegan cheese before the big game. We love Kite Hill’s Cream Cheese Style Spread and Treeline Herb Garlic French-Style Soft Cheese.

Hot Sauces and Salsas: Hot Sauce and salsa can jazz up any dish – Spoon some over some Spicy Poblano & Sweet Potato Chili or go the obvious route and serve with tortilla chips. We love the uber-hot Caribbean staple Baron West Indian Hot Sauce and lately we’re digging the 365 Roasted Red Chipotle Salsa from Whole Foods Market. Which brings us to…

Tortilla Chips: Tortilla chips can make or break you on game day. You need something sturdy to dip, adequate saltiness, and definitely organic (heck no GMO!). We like Garden of Eatin’s Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips.

Popping Corn: You totally have to have a huge bowl of popcorn if you’re watching any sort of big event on TV.  Splurge on some good kernels and it will elevate an ordinary snack into something a bit more special.  Pop ‘em in coconut oil and throw some nooch and salt on and try not to eat the whole bowl. We like Rancho Gordo’s Crimson Popping Corn.

Flavored/Candied Nuts: You can definitely make these yourself, but there’s no shame in your game if you buy pre-made ones instead. We like the Coconut Cashews at Trader Joe’s.

Chocolate: No explanation necessary. We like Trader Joe’s Pound Plus Bittersweet Chocolate with Almonds – it’s big enough so that you won’t have to growl at anyone who tries to share with you. Extra points if you make your favorite chocolate covered walnuts, chocolate bark or bourbon chocolate truffles.

Munchies: By “munchies”, we mean any sort of bagged crispy addictive snack. Lately we’re into Hippeas Organic Chickpea Puffs in White Cheddar.

Savory Spreads: Stock some hummus, white bean dip, black bean dip, tapenade, or Muffuletta spread on game day. It’s perfect for slathering on sandwiches and for dipping.

Pretzels and Spicy Mustard: Another fool proof, beloved football snack – grab your favorite sourdough hard pretzels and the best mustard you can find. Done.

Veggie Tray with Ranch Dip:  Yes, we agree, there should be a super healthy snack option available (cue heavy sigh here).  Make a simple veggie tray and serve them with some yummy homemade ranch dip to make everything Super Bowl worthy.

Vegan Jerky: To satisfy the most die-hard meat heads eaters. Try Louisville Vegan Jerky Co. Pete’s Smoked Black Pepper.

Vegan Ice Cream:  Celebrate your team’s win with something sweet. We’ve heard rumors that Chill by CHLOE. is pretty amazing. Just saying 😉
