The Winter doldrums are upon us. We don’t know about you, but the months in-between the holidays, and before the official start of Spring have us feeling a little stir-crazy. Cold, dark weather makes us want to Netflix + Chill our lives away- perhaps while sipping on something stiff and hot (Hot Buttered Rum, anyone?). After you’ve seen every show and movie out there, its time to get up, dust those crumbs off your oversized t-shirt, and re-locate.

You’re headed to FoxFire Mountain House– a picturesque (aka highly Instagrammable) little inn in the Catskills. With 2 constantly burning fireplaces and an old-school record player spinning a Woodstock playlist, all you need to do here is cozy-up, read a good book or play 100 games of backgammon while drinking a cup of tea or wine. This place is the definition of #hyggee. The rooms are quaint and perfect, the restaurant serves excellent farm-to-table food with great vegan options.

This Inn is the main attraction in this area, but if you are feeling inspired (or have a case of cabin fever), challenge yourself to the Mt. Tremper hike a few miles down the road. You’re definitely going to feel it in the caboose later, but if you reach the water-tower at the top of the mountain, you get the reward of an amazing 360° view of the Catskill Mountains.

Looking for more to do upstate? We’ve checked out the adorable town of Hudson, artsy-fartsy Beacon, and a bunch of hikes– a short train ride away from NYC!
