1. WHY CBD?
First off, CBD (cannabidiol) doesn’t get you high. CBD is non-psychoactive. That’s another cannabinoid (chemical) in weed called THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is a psychoactive (meaning it changes your brain function). That’s what will get you high. With CBD, you’re you, just less stressed out. That means taking the bus to work or attending 15 meetings back-to-back is less stressful—it might even be enjoyable.
2. RESEARCH POINTS TO ANXIETY RELIEF
CBD has shown promise in helping with depression, but more evidence points to it helping anxiety. Most studies are pre-clinical, aka studies on non-human mammals, but according to this research, while many anti-anxiety meds like Prozac jack up your serotonin levels, which can alter your mood for the better, CBD activates serotonin receptors. So while it doesn’t force production of the happy hormone, it has similar results.
3. THE “GOLDILOCKS ZONE” IS REAL
There is a “Goldilocks zone,” how much you take matters and how much you need is based on your unique biochemistry. You may need 10 milligrams while your friend might need 20 to feel anything. This isn’t a traveling-pants situation; everyone’s Goldilocks zone is different.
4. THERE ARE DIFFERENT WAYS TO TAKE CBD
CBD tinctures can help with chronic pain, but for inflammation from injuries, CBD is most effective as a topical. While putting CBD in your coffee can help you live through your morning subway ride (read: when you’re very stressed), if you have localized pain, you might want to try a topical. Why? When you down a vial of CBD, it’s getting dispersed through your digestive system and might take two hours to hit the intended area. It’s more precise and fast-acting when you apply topically. One of our few topicals is Apothecanna Pain Spray!
6. WHERE YOU GET YOUR CBD MATTERS! CHECK YOUR SOURCE
Make sure your CBD has receipts, particularly if its hemp-derived. Third party lab results, purity tests, and make sure it’s part of a state’s hemp pilot program. Also understand that all full-spectrum means is the whole plant is used, kind of like a vintage for wine. Isolate can be just as effective, and accurate in dosing, just again, make sure you check the source, what farm it came from, and that it’s derived from a pilot program. Basically, full-spectrum is like eating an orange where an isolate is like taking a vitamin C pill, or eating a salad vs. taking a supplement. If you want the FEELZ go for the full-spectrum gold. Our fav brand, We Toast, is available at all FEELZ locations or via email CBDme@feelzbychloe.com.
